The self-service mobility operator raises €6 million from Épopée Gestion, Demeter and AQUITI Gestion.
Founded in 2017 by Paul-Adrien Cormerais and Clara Vaisse, Pony offers self-service bikes and scooters in Angers.
Its offering provides users with top-of-the-range models that ensure their safety, all with the option of booking from a mobile app.
Pony offers three vehicle models: The Wolf bike, the Double Pony longtail and the Okai ES electric scooter, all designed for shared urban use and simplified maintenance. It also aims to ensure the sustainability of its vehicles, by recycling batteries via a specialized company.
The startup is developing a participatory business model called Adopt a Pony, in which each bike or scooter belongs to a resident who receives a share of the profits generated. Pony takes care of operation, logistics, recharging and maintenance. The vehicles are manufactured in-house, with repairable and reusable batteries from Bordeaux-based startup Gouach.
The aim is to promote the circular economy.
Pony deploys its vehicles in cities after obtaining the necessary permits, and works closely with each city to tailor the service to its inhabitants and needs.
Over the past two years, the company has set up operations in 13 new cities, including Bourges, Lorient, Liège and Poitiers.
This round of funding will enable Pony to invest in research and development and roll out its solution in several major French cities.
