Acwa Robotics has just completed a funding round of €1 million from Calao Finance, Région Sud Investissement, and Sofimac Innovation. Created in 2018 by Jean-François Rossi, Jean-François Guiderdoni, and René Amoretti in Bastia, Acwa Robotics designs, develops, and markets autonomous robotic solutions for mapping and inspecting water pipes.
Around the world, up to 40% of the potable water transported through distribution networks is lost due to old and damaged infrastructure. Acwa Robotics has developed a technology that enables a rapid and complete assessment of the water network using a robot that moves inside the pipes for thousands of kilometers without interfering with water distribution. After the robot has finished its inspection, the water utility collects all the recorded data and can then renovate damaged sections to prevent leaks.
Acwa Robotics has partnered with water utilities in France, including Acqua Publica, Société du Canal de Provence, and Sartenais Valinco Taravo. With this funding, the startup will be able to complete three prototypes and prepare for the industrialization of its first model. Additionally, several new hires are expected to strengthen the team.
