Weglot, a startup that offers a website translation solution for businesses, has raised €45 million in a funding round led by Partech, a venture capital firm. The company was founded in 2016 by Augustin Prot and Rémy Berda, and its software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution enables businesses to create multilingual websites without manually managing multiple sites across different markets. The solution is compatible with various content management systems such as WordPress, Shopify, and Squarespace. In addition, Weglot offers a localization solution that allows businesses to modify external content such as images and metadata.
The funding will be used to continue Weglot's growth and to develop its solution further. Since its founding, the company has raised a total of €61 million. Weglot currently serves over 50,000 customers across 150 countries, including notable clients such as Air France, L'Oréal, and Lenovo. The company claims that its platform can translate any website into any language in a matter of minutes, regardless of the website's underlying technology.
Partech, the lead investor in this funding round, is a global venture capital firm that focuses on investing in technology and digital companies. The firm has more than €2 billion in assets under management and has invested in a variety of companies, including Made.com, Alan, and Tink.
The website translation market is growing rapidly, and Weglot is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend. According to a report by Grand View Research, the global language services market is expected to reach $76.3 billion by 2027, driven by the increasing demand for localization services. As more businesses expand into new markets, the need for website translation solutions is likely to increase, which bodes well for Weglot's future prospects.
